Now, what’s not to like about this? A book by #ZitaWest which gives tips and lots of tempting and tasty recipes while, at the same time, helping to boost your fertility.

Acupuncture for fertility works best when it is combined with dietary and/or lifestyle changes. In fact, it is the whole holistic approach that is very important to be successful in getting pregnant. Too often I see patients who are eating the wrong foods, or are exercising to excess, working too much, not resting enough and basically have a bad “work-life balance”. I always recommend that they make changes somewhere and start to take care of themselves better. This will not only help them to get pregnant, but will also benefit the pregnancy and baby.

Acupuncture for fertility works by directing more blood to the reproductive system (the ovaries and uterus in women), helping also to modulate hormones and relieve stress. It also complements IVF treatments and relieves any undesired side effects of medications.

I normally recommend acupuncture treatments once per week, as well as possible dietary or lifestyle changes. There is no optimum time to start acupuncture treatments as acupuncture is effective any time of a woman’s menstrual cycle. It is preferable too to start acupuncture at least three months in advance of an IVF cycle, and studies* have shown that acupuncture on the day of the embryo transfer can increase the chance of success by as much as 42%.
